Arches National Park

Arches
Words can't describe Arches National Park. Nor can any pictures that I post. You gotta see this in person to really get a sense of the enormity and magnificence of this park.

We thought Arches National Park would be a desert where you would only see a bunch of strange rock formations that resemble arches. We were wrong. This place has a whole lot more to offer. The landscape is full of shapes, spires, fins, cones, and beauty. It is awesome and humbling.

Ancient Landscapes
Here you can see what appears to be a gigantic rock carefully balanced. It has been sitting this way for thousands of years.

The Heat
It was nearly 100 degrees, and we were in an actual desert and hiking all day. You don't want to mess around in this environment. They park staff was encouraging us to pack no less than a gallon of water a piece and plenty of food. And of course you gotta wear some sort of hat protection and plenty of sun screen.

A Special Hike
One exciting hike lead us to a special part of the park, the legendary golden arches. Here we are just rounding the corner to behold these special arches...

We finally made it! How did nature sculpt something so awe-inspiring? Such wonder, such beauty...

Conclusion
Arches National Park is truly awesome. There is something about this park and the desert. I've been to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks and I think a more Yellowstone sort of environment looks good in photos and is great to experience...

but personally, we prefer the deserts of Utah.

There is something about being being in these deserts. I don't know what it is. On previous trips, Nicki and I have been to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park, and now finally Arches. Utah parks are the best. We prefer them over the other parks. They are truly truly breathtaking.

I'll leave you with some more photos.
